Detailed Design of Spliced I-Girder for Yangon – Mandalay Railway

The Yangon-Mandalay Railway covered about 620 km which operated by Myanma Railways (MR), connecting Yangon, Naypyitaw, the new capital, and Mandalay. It was separated into 2 phases of development which were Phase I: Yangon – Taungoo with approx. 270 km. and Phase II: Taungoo – Mandalay with approx. 350 km.



Service

During the period 2019, OCT was responsible for detailed design of the bridge No 32, 33, 50 and 58 proposes to be constructed by using I-Girder with span of typically 23.00,27.00 and 30.00 m. The span arrangement of each bridge are as follows:

  • Bridge No 32: 3@23.00=69.00m
  • Bridge No 33: 2@30.00=60.00m
  • Bridge No 50: 2@30.00=60.00m
  • Bridge No 58: 2@27.00=54.00m


This project, OCT prepared the calculation for I&H ENGINEERING CO., LTD. IHIAP YANGON BRANCH who was the one of the contractors in Yangon-Mandalay Railway project. And OCT prepared for rechecked design of Bridge Abutment for the project "Detailed Design for Yangon Mandalay Railway Improvement Project Phase I (YMDD)" due to increasing of superstructure dead load.
